Professor Jane Lewis FMBA, FHEA, FSB
Professor Jane Lewis studied for her BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography at UCNW Bangor and then carried out a PhD at Royal Holloway College and the Scottish Marine Biological Association. Several post-doctoral positions followed, including a Fellowship at the University Marine Biological Station at Millport before being appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Westminster. She was appointed a Professor of Marine Phycology in 2003 and is now PVC & Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology. Her research interests centre on the ecology and taxonomy of marine dinoflagellates with emphasis on their resting stages (cysts). There are two strands to her research; understanding and monitoring harmful algal blooms and the use of dinoflagellate cysts in the interpretation of the fossil record.
