Claire Jasper provides technical support for the Molecular and Cellular group at the MBA. She also provides support for a number of different projects including work on Emiliania huxleyi. Additionally she tends to the day to day maintenance of the Marine Biological Association’s culture collection – comprising of approximately 300 strains of marine phytoplankton, representing nine different phyla.
Claire has been working at the MBA for one year; previously she completed a Masters of Research in Marine Biology based at Plymouth University, where she also did her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography. Her previous experience has given her skills in ARCGIS, taxonomy, fieldwork and experimental design, and multiple statistical software packages. Her current work is expanding her molecular and cellular skill set to better support the Molecular and cellular group.
