Jack Dickenson

Jack is a PhD (‘Cell signalling in Marine Phytoplankton in response to Environmental Stimuli’) student , under the guidance of Professor Colin Brownlee (MBA), Dr Glen Wheeler (MBA) and Professor Mark Moore (Southampton). He is   looking at how different phytoplankton groups signal to each other in laboratory cultures and will then investigate the signalling differences to environmental phytoplankton populations, hopefully culminating in experiments aboard a scientific cruise.

Jack graduated from Plymouth University with a 1st in BSc (Hons) Marine Biology, then undertook the MRes Marine Biology course. His thesis focused upon foraminifera calcification and the role of silicon, and was supervised by Dr Glen Wheeler.
