Harry is a NERC PhD student based between the University of Southampton and the MBA, supervised by Dr Dan Smale and Professor Steve Hawkins. He has a BSc in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology from the University of Plymouth, where he also studied for an MRes in Marine Biology, completing a thesis entitled Variability in the structure of epibiont assemblages inhabiting northerly and southerly-distributed kelp species in the southwest UK, earning a distinction.

The over-arching aim of Harry’s current research is to examine the ecological functioning of different habitat-forming kelp species found in British waters, and to understand how changes in their distributions and relative abundances may impact the wider community and ecosystem. His work includes both field and laboratory work; the latter particularly focused on invertebrate taxonomy.
