Charly is a spatial data and GIS specialist, working in a commercial capacity for over seven years. Her work at the MBA is primarily focused on marine species and habitats conservation, biodiversity and condition assessment. Using PostGIS and GeoServer, Charly oversees the development and implementation of the Database of Seabed Species and Habitats (DBOSSH), the DASSH mechanism for delivering geospatial data as the MEDIN Data Archive Centre (DAC) for marine biodiversity data. In addition she collects, collates, formats and analyses a myriad data to aid conservation objectives in the UK and European marine environment and provides training, guidance and advice to her technical and academic colleagues at the MBA and wider Plymouth marine science community. She is currently working with Plymouth University on WWF’s MPA Ecological Coherence Network assessment in the Celtic Seas MSFD reporting region; and is undertaking a rapid recreational activities assessment for Plymouth City Council.
